For a guy who helped his chances to make the Detroit Tigers by begging the general manager through an e-mail to give him a shot, the last thing Matt Tuiasosopo wanted to do was miss the very first spring-training game of the year. But that's what happened a year ago when Tuiasosopo left camp to be at the side of his wife, Abi, who was about to give birth to the couple's first child.
