The Suns are on the short list of teams who have dramatically improved since last season -- with Portland and maybe Charlotte and Indiana. That puts Suns rookie head coach Jeff Hornacek on the short list of Coach of the Year candidates after the season's first trimester. The work he and his staff did to get the Suns, pegged for last place in the Western Conference, to 17-10 is rivaled only by returning head coaches Terry Stotts in Portland (33-49 to 23-5) and Frank Vogel in Indiana (49-32 to 23-5).
