'Glass' Looks to Threepeat Over Soft Super Bowl Weekend

It's looking like February will begin with more of a whimper than a bang as the Super Bowl is likely to garner most of the attention this weekend before The LEGO Movie 2 hits theaters next weekend. This weekend could, however, still have a little intrigue. Right now we're forecasting Glass will finish at #1 for a third week in a row, but there is a shot The Upside could pull ahead in what might be a tight race. Additionally, the lone new wide release is Sony's Miss Bala while Warner Bros. ...

A Look Back at 2018's Record Year at the Domestic Box Office

December 2018 closed out a record year at the domestic box office, and while it was only the fourth largest December of all-time, it was the first December in four years to not feature a new Star Wars release. Considering Star Wars: The Force Awakens accounted for as much as 50% of December 2015's grosses and The Last Jedi made up 39% of last year's record performance for the month, December 2018's $1.068 billion in calendar grosses is an impressive performance with Warner Bros.'s global se...

The Three Basic Knots You Actually Need to Know

Knot tying. It’s a thing. If you read any "men's lifestyle" content, you've no doubt seen an exhaustive list of "essential knots every man needs to know." You proceed to read their list of seven, or ten, or fourteen, and by the time you get to the bottom of the list, you can't even remember the name of the first one, let alone how to tie it.

'Glass' Repeats Atop the Weekend Box Office While New Releases Struggle

The weekend turned out a bit better than expected with Universal's Glass holding on to the top spot with an estimated $19 million on its way to a $100+ million domestic run, though the weekend's newcomers in Fox's The Kid Who Would be King and Serenity struggled. Meanwhile this year's crop of Oscar nominees saw Green Book re-enter the top ten following its five nominations while The Favourite, Bohemian Rhapsody and A Star is Born all improved compared to last weekend. Finishing with an...

'Glass' Fills Up with $40.58M Debut While 'Dragon Ball' Delivers Top Five Opening

Universal and Blumhouse's Glass was unable to quite reach the lofty heights some had expected heading into the weekend, but the film still managed a solid #1 start, playing very similarly to its predecessor based on current estimates. Glass, however, might not be the biggest news of the weekend when you consider the monster debut of FUNimation's Dragon Ball Super: Broly, which is looking at a possible third place finish based on early estimates, but it's important to note current results a...

'Glass' Ready to Crack Open a $50+ Million Holiday Debut

After just two weeks, 2019 has already had some notable highlights, including the surprise $20 million debut of The Upside last weekend while WB's Aquaman became the first film in the DC Extended Universe to top $1 billion at the global box office. Now, this weekend is looking to M. Night Shyamalan's Glass to deliver the second largest January and Martin Luther King Jr. openings ever behind only American Sniper. Universal's release of Glass is the highly anticipated third film in M. Ni...

Weekend Project: Make a DIY Reclaimed Wood Wall Bike Hanger

There's a great adage in the home decor and organization field...you've probably heard it on one of those room makeover TV shows. The phrasing varies, of course, but the central idea, "When you run out of floor space, you've got to go up."

'The Upside' is #1 at the Weekend Box Office While 'Aquaman' Tops $1 Billion Worldwide

Outperforming expectations, STXFilms's The Upside debuted atop the weekend box office, upsetting Aquaman's bid for a fourth straight weekend at #1. That said, Aquaman isn't exactly focused on its runner-up position domestically as the film is now the first in the DC Extended Universe to top $1 billion at the global box office. As for the rest of the week's new wide releases, Sony's A Dog's Way Home delivered on studio expectations while Entertainment Studios's sci-fi thriller Replicas fail...

How to Get Fit and Lose Weight this Year without Spending a Dime

Many will make resolutions on New Years, vowing to drop the additional pounds leftover from the holidays, and generally making more healthful choices starting January 1st. And while new beginnings can be a helpful motivation, we think the best time to actually get started on new goals is actually now:  late winter and early spring. So, while we hope you made some good progress in the first few weeks of January, the real question is: how's it going come February 1st?   … Continue reading on ManMadeDIY.com

'Aquaman' Ready for Fourth Week at #1; 'Dog's Way Home' & 'Upside' Compete for Runner-Up

With the new year underway, this weekend sees three new releases vying for a spot in the top ten, though once again not one of them is likely to dethrone Aquaman from the weekend's top spot, which is where WB's latest entry into the DC Extended Universe looks to remain for the fourth straight weekend in a row. As for the week's new releases, STX will debut The Upside, a remake of 2012's global hit The Intouchables, into over 3,000 theaters; Sony will give family's a new option with A Dog's...

How to: Make Everything Taste Better this Winter with DIY Charcoal Salt

created at: 01/06/2016

In the summer, it's easy to get those deep, blackened and charred flavors in your weeknight meals. During grill season, you simply head outside, and cook your meal over an open flame.

And then comes January, where the produce is poor, and everything lacks that certain zing that the warm sun and fire-seared foods provide.   … Continue reading on ManMadeDIY.com

Staying Sharp: 9 Knives Every Man Should Own

created at: 09/25/2013

A few months ago, in the midst of a day full of projects, I had a bit of an a-ha moment. I was in my workshop, using the table saw to slice up some Baltic birch plywood, when a timer on my phone went off, reminding me to take a break and go chop a bunch of vegetables to add to the slow cooked stock I was simmering in the kitchen. … Continue reading on ManMadeDIY.com

It's a third straight weekend atop the weekend box office for Warner Bros.'s Aquaman as the film pushed over $940 million worldwide, becoming the highest grossing worldwide release in the DC Extended Universe. However, Sony's release of Escape Room made sure this weekend wasn't all about holdovers. The PG-13 horror/thriller made some some noise of its own, delivering a surprise runner-up finish, helping prove once again that the beginning of the year is fertile ground for horror film debut...

The new year gets underway this weekend with plenty of promise, not to mention a bit of pressure following 2018's record performance as the highest grossing year at the domestic box office ever. We're still putting the final touches on 2018's numbers, but grosses currently show the year topping $11.86 billion at the domestic box office, nearly $500 million more than the previous record set in 2016. As for 2019, it will get started with Sony's horror/thriller Escape Room, which hopes to sec...

It's Easier Than You Think: A Simple, Straightforward Guide to Getting Started in Leatherworking

My journey in leatherworking started with disappointment. Disappointment in a pair of leather boots. I had purchased a pair of Steve Maddens from DSW for about $100. They didn’t last long... and I mean, they really didn’t last long. After a month of pretty irregular use, the grommets had fallen out, the surface of the leather had started to rip, and the dye was already starting to rub off. And as my shoe angst built, I thought, ‘I could make something better than this.’

Use Benjamin Franklin's "13 Virtues" to Help You Be a Better Person in 2018

As far as the truly great characters from U.S. History to which we might look for timeless advice, it's hard to beat Benjamin Franklin. (We still love you, Mark Twain!) Franklin was born into a family of very modest means, but he manage to use his basic education (he stopped going to school at age ten) to become a successful author, scientist, statesman, printer, politician, inventor, humorist, civic activist, diplomat, and $100 dollar bill appearer.
