Meanwhile, Roadside saw a strong performance from their release of Judy, delivering a top ten performance in moderate release, while holdovers such as Hustlers and It: Chapter Two held on strong in their third and fourth weekends respectively. Universal's 'Abominable' Ready to Freeze Out the Weekend Competition

The first animated film of the fall season, and the first in over a month, arrives this weekend in the form of Universal, DreamWorks Animation and Pearl Studio's Abominable and it's looking to top the weekend box office. Behind it is last weekend's strong opener Downton Abbey, while Roadside Attractions looks to crack the top ten with their moderate release of Judy starring Renee Zellweger. How to Make an Amazing Old Fashioned... On an Airplane

Whether you're flying for business or pleasure, airline travel should never be a drag. Sure, there are luggage fees and long lines and you somehow always end up in the last zone to board. But once you're settled in your seat, you are flying 20,000 ft in the air. And while the in-flight meal seems to have gone the way of airline peanuts and flight attendants who wear those little hats, that doesn't mean you should have to drink poorly while you cruise at altitude.

So, what should you get? Overpriced mini-bottles of mediocre California red blend? An $11 macrolager? Of course not. If you're wise, you can turn out a perfectly respectable cocktail for the price of a single miniature. With a few complementary items from the drinks cart, you can make a fine Old Fashioned that honestly doesn't cost more than a comparable cocktail from your neighborhood bar.

So sit back, relax, and actually enjoy your flight. … Continue reading on ManMadeDIY.com

'It 2' Repeats at #1, 'Hustlers' Exceeds Expectations & 'The Goldfinch' Flies into a Wall

It was a mixed bag of a weekend for Warner Bros. which saw It: Chapter Two deliver a strong hold and retain the weekend's #1 spot at the box office, but their new release, The Goldfinch, bombed, delivering one of the worst openings ever for a wide release. Alternatively, STXfilms's Hustlers exploded out of the gates with the studio's largest opening in its five year history as well as star Jennifer Lopez's largest live-action opening of all-time. With an estimated $40.7 million, WB and...

Pennywise Hopes to Scare Off 'Hustlers' for Repeat at Weekend #1

This weekend will likely see Warner Bros. and New Line's It: Chapter Two enjoy a second weekend at #1, but at the same time STX is looking for much needed success from their newest release, Hustlers. The Jennifer Lopez-led crime feature is looking to not only deliver a live-action record opening for the star, but also a record opening for the studio should it top the $23.8 million opening for Bad Moms back in 2016. Meanwhile, WB's The Goldfinch is looking as if it will fall short of a doub...

Meet Angelo Pellegrini, the Original Maker Almost No One Knows About, but Totally Should.

You can barely imagine what the world was like in the proto-suburbs of the Pacific Northwest for a child who had traveled there––entirely on his own, with his mother at home and his father awaiting him––from a small Tuscan village. This was before "a small Tuscan village" was even a thing on the radar of America at large. And it was before America had its culturally and politically dominating century. It was before anyone knew what the Pacific Northwest would become, foodwise.

And yet, that is where Angelo Pellegrini settled. His childhood of 12 or so years in Tuscany gave him an uncanny experience to bring to pre-depression America, including an adult life that coincided with the Cold War in which his heritage could not have been less relevant. He was born at just the right time to enjoy America in a way that few others had. But he was also born just a bit too early to have been the celebrity he would have been if he had emerged in the age of Alice Waters and the Food Network.    … Continue reading on ManMadeDIY.com

'It: Chapter 2' Floats to #1 with $185 Million Global Debut

Warner Bros. and New Line's It: Chapter Two kicked off the fall box office season with a strong, $91 million debut. The performance easily topped the weekend box office, finishing ahead of the second place film by $85 million. While the performance trails the first film's $123 million opening back in 2017, it is still within studio expectations and ranks as the second largest horror opening of all-time while 2017's It remains to be the only horror film to ever open with more than $100 milli...

Can Pennywise and 'It: Chapter Two' Lead to Another Record Breaking September?

The summer movie season came to a close this past weekend, finishing down -2% compared to last year while the year is down nearly -7% compared to the same time last year. The fall season, however, hopes to bump those numbers up a bit beginning with this weekend's release of It: Chapter Two, the sequel to the 2017 smash hit, which broke the September and Fall opening weekend records, going on to become the highest grossing R-rated horror movie of all-time and delivering over $700 million wo...
