Diamondbacks outfielder A.J. Pollock thinks of one particular story from his year in Double-A Mobile when asked to talk about hitting coach Turner Ward. It was 2011, and Ward was in his first year managing the Mobile Bay Bears after spending three seasons as the hitting coach. When infielder Taylor Harbin was out of position on a ball hit to the left side of the infield during one summer game, Ward barked at him. Harbin barked back, accusing Ward of protecting the umpires more than his own players.
