Fiesta Bowl top executive resigns abruptly

Robert Shelton abruptly resigned Monday as executive director of the Fiesta Bowl to become president of Tucson-based Research Corporation for Science Advancement. Shelton, a former University of Arizona president who resurrected the tarnished bowl's image, told The Arizona Republic today that it was a "mutual" decision to leave. He acknowledged, however, that some board members a few months ago approached him about whether it was "time to move on."
