ASU basketball's Herb Sendek finally faces old Miami (Ohio) team

Twenty years ago, Herb Sendek left Lexington, Ky., and drove north on I-75 toward Oxford, Ohio, a small town near the Indiana-Ohio border. Sendek was 30. After four seasons as an assistant coach at Kentucky, he had just been hired at Miami (Ohio), his first head-coaching job. "I remember thinking to myself, 'What did I just do? Am I out of my mind?' " Sendek recalled Monday. "I arguably had one of the best jobs in college basketball. ... But it couldn't have worked out any better. Those three years that we were at Miami were among our best. We have great memories. But making that drive, leaving a situation that was relatively comfortable and going into the unknown, it caused me to pause at a couple of the exits."
