Arizona Diamondbacks expanding international horizons

A sort of strange yet interesting Diamondbacks nugget to come out of the general managers' meetings last week were the comments Kevin Towers made about right-hander Masahiro Tanaka, whom many consider the best pitcher to come out of Japan since Yu Darvish. Towers didn't just say his club liked Tanaka, he said the Diamondbacks hoped to be in the mix to sign him. Of course, hoping to land him and actually landing him are vastly different things, and if Diamondbacks were to cough up the $100-plus-million he's expected to cost (posting fee plus contract), it would qualify as nothing short of stunning.
