It looks as if NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and the league's owners, failing in their push to expand the regular season from 16 games to 18, are about to run a little misdirection play. Goodell told ESPN.com this week that the league's competition committee will take up the possibility of expanding the playoffs by two wild-card teams as soon as next season.
