Although the contract didn't necessarily imply his status as a cornerstone of the franchise, Coyotes winger Mikkel Boedker was certainly expected to play as one. He agreed to a two-year deal worth $5.1 million days before training camp started with the understanding that if he wanted the security of a longer contract, he'd have to earn it.
