Greg Maddux biggest no-brainer on crowded Hall of Fame ballot

In 1999, three players -- Nolan Ryan, George Brett and Robin Yount -- were voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. This is noteworthy for two reasons: First, all three were first-ballot inductees; second, it was the last time more than two people were elected in the same year by the Baseball Writers Association of America. If it wasn't for the steroids stain on the current Hall ballot, I'd say Cooperstown's doors would swing open for perhaps as many as four players when the 2014 voting is announced today. That's how loaded this ballot was.
