Phoenix Desert Vista had looked untouchable for most of the season, routinely blowing out opponents and rarely needing to exert much effort in the fourth quarter. It proved to be mortal Monday, squeaking out a four-point victory against Phoenix Mountain Pointe, and Friday it proved to be beatable, as Gilbert Mesquite came away with a 46-44 home victory in a Division I, Section II matchup -- Desert Vista's first loss of the season.
