Eric Bledsoe's injury gives Ish Smith the chance to play and to shoot

After a 10-win December and with an early January schedule void of winning opponents, the suddenly successful Suns have an unexpected challenge. Suns guard Eric Bledsoe will be out for at least a week because of a right-knee sprain that sidelined him for Thursday's and Saturday's games. Bledsoe sprained his knee during Monday's win against the Los Angeles Clippers. The sore, swollen knee will be re-examined in a week, which falls toward the end of the team's upcoming five-game, seven-day trip and could make a Jan. 13 trip finale at New York his possible earliest return.
